- We start each rehearsal with a physical and vocal warm-up.
- There is sometimes a singer supporting each harmony.
- Singers stand or sit in a semi circle with FIona in the centre.
- Songs are taught by ear, line by line, call and response, without holding pieces of paper with words or scores.
- Fiona tries to create an uplifting, easy learning environment.
- If a song has a lot of words, word sheets will be provided. These are generally taken away at the end of the session for singers to learn at home.
- Singers generally choose the part that they think suits their vocal range.
- Fiona will advise you about this if you are not sure what part suits your voice.
- Fiona will occasionally divide groups to create a better balance of sound.
- Some scores are available but are not used in the weekly rehearsals so you don’t have to be able to read music.
- Audio tracks of the songs are available on the Members page, or sent to choir members in an email, to support the learning process.
